ABOUT

Born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and raised in Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Mississippi who currently resides in Southeastern Louisiana with my family which includes two of the cutest dogs you've ever seen, Gio and Isabelle!

As an Artist, I situate color and texture onto a canvas through painting or pouring.  Color and texture are major components of each of my art pieces.  My art is created to help one escape your thoughts and the outside world if only for a moment. I have created art all my life but I began painting in 2002 and I have paintings in various private collections all over the country.  I work with oils, acrylics and just about any medium under the sun to portray a scene where one would escape to if only for a moment.  There are many artists that inspire me, but my favorites are George Rodrigue, Wassily Kandinsky and of course Vincent Van Gogh.

As an Author, I formed Muscadine Magazine as an avenue for contemporary artists and fashion designers to showcase their work.  The magazine features interviews from artists and fashion designers from around the world.  Its purpose is to show other artists and fashion designers that it is possible to succeed with your gift.  Each issue is packed with information from the artist's and fashion designer's perspective.

As a Social Media Manager, I have provided support for online and in-person businesses.  This support may seem tedious but, it is vital in this digital society.  One lesson learned is set your boundaries and abide by them.

As a Service-Based Business Owner, I coordinated events in the New Orleans and Nashville area.  The one takeaway from my time as a service-based business owner is that unless there is a signed contract, no work should commence.  Also, managing your expectations and adjusting your work/life balance to what is healthy for you is essential.

As a Graphic Designer, I developed merch with Amazon and a magazine on Amazon as well.  I have also provided graphic design content for a variety of businesses.  Providing the services requested with contract in hand is just as necessary as creating boundaries with clients.

As a Website Designer, I created many websites for local companies.  Precise information in contracts are essential.  Asserting your limits and boundaries is necessary in any realm of business.

As an owner of an Original Product, there are many aspects of business that I learned through the development and pursual of my creation of original product.  One lasting impression is that there are costs to businesses that are unanticipated such as time required, etc. that may not fit one's desired lifestyle.

In education, I am a 2007 graduate of the bachelor's degree program from The University of New Orleans, a 2020 graduate of The LSUS MBA program, and am now a Doctoral Candidate in the Doctor of Education program at the University of Louisiana Monroe.  I am following my dreams of being an educator.  Thanks for reading and being with me as I enjoy my journey.

Much Love,

Melissa
