Malibu Punch

Melissa Amato

A favorite drink of mine is Malibu and Orange Juice.  This is my go-to drink that I'm sure others would say and have said it is a girly drink.  Well, I am a girl and it tastes great!  I love rum.  Maybe I am part pirate?  Who knows?

But if I want a fruitier version of this tried and true drink of mine, I go with my tried and true Malibu Punch.

A little back story, I have been a bartender since 2000 on and off throughout the years.  I have worked in restaurants, daiquiri shops and bars all over.  It was fun and a great way to support myself.  The fast pace of the work along with the nighttime hours made it a great fit for me.  I am such a night owl and I love being busy, so it was perfect.  I would get tired of drinking coke and I love experimenting with different things behind the bar so, one time I combined all the juices that were in the bar gun as a non-alcoholic alternative to coke.  It came out great.  Then, after I drank it I realized that it would be great with rum and that Malibu would be best.  And here it is!  I've made Here is the recipe!

Super Easy Malibu Punch
  • 2 oz Malibu Rum
  • 2 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 2 oz Orange Juice
  • 2 oz Cranberry Juice
  • Splash of Grenadine (optional)
  • Garnish with cherries and an orange slice (optional)

Measure and pour liquids in one glass.  Use a separate glass and pour from one glass to another glass.  This will ensure the contents are properly mixed and will taste like it should.  Now if you do not have a measuring cup to measure out exactly 2 oz, then eyeball it.  For future reference, usually equal portions of anything make a good drink.
